From two points
m=x2−x1y2−y1. Keep the subtraction order consistent.
From an equation
Rewrite as y=mx+b, or use m=−ba for ax+by+c=0.
From inclination
m=tan(α), where α is measured counterclockwise from the positive x-axis.
Special lines
Horizontal lines have slope 0. Vertical lines have undefined slope.
